Open Chamber Music Competition
Ensembles must be comprised of 3-6 members and cannot include a conductor. A minimum of one member must play tuba or euphonium. Every member of the ensemble must perform on all pieces during the competition. Repertoire is to be chosen by the competitors within the guidelines listed below. There are no age restrictions, but no members of the ensemble may be/may have been a full-time professional performer or teacher.
*Repertoire information, including title, composer, and piece length will be submitted online during registration. An original copy of all scores must be submitted at conference check-in.
Preliminary Round (March 7, 2024) Prepare at least 8 minutes but not more than 15 minutes of music to include the following:
-Music representing at least two different stylistic periods.
-One arrangement, partial or complete.
-One original work composed for the instrumentation of the group.
Final Round (March 8, 2024) Prepare at least 15 minutes but not more than 20 minutes of music. Include the following:
-At least three contrasting works - complete or partial
-One of the pieces must be an original work composed for the instrumentation of the group.
-If desired, one work from the preliminary round may be repeated, but this is not required
-The final round will be open to an audience
